Newsletter from Trustee Robert Glaser, District V

Dear Neighbors,
It is my privilege to serve you as Trustee representing District V on the Houston Community College Board. HCC Board of Trustees is united in vision and purpose, and dedicated to “keeping students first” as we move the college forward.
Despite the challenges that face most businesses and institutions during the COVID-19 pandemic, HCC remains financially strong. Tuition is affordable, and students in need benefit from financial aid and scholarships.
HCC provides learning opportunities for individuals of all ages, background and interests. The College’s School of Continuing Education brings outstanding instruction and services to our community through hundreds of affordable, short, non-credit courses. Students seeking careers in health care can choose from fields ranging from Dental Assisting to Nuclear Medicine Technology, Nursing, Surgical Technology, and more.
The College offers dozens of Level 1 certificate programs which help students land good-paying jobs after only two semesters. While learning, the college supports our students with advising and counseling, tutoring, career planning and resources. And when they complete, the college’s Career and Job Placement Center can help them find jobs.
HCC follows Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines to help limit the spread of COVID-19. Students and visitors are screened before entering facilities, and surfaces are sanitized throughout the day. The college moved quickly to adapt most traditional courses to online instruction, or a combination of online and on campus, to keep students safe.
There is much to celebrate at HCC! Our students and community can trust HCC to provide outstanding, affordable instruction in dozens of career fields in a safe environment.
