HCC provides support for students from the Bahamas impacted by Hurricane Dorian

In the wake of the devastation that Hurricane Dorian brought to the Bahamas, Houston Community College (HCC) is doing its part to help students whose families have been financially impacted by the tropical cyclone.
 
On September 4, the HCC Foundation announced that it would provide a helping hand by approving a scholarship gift of $8,000 to assist four Bahamian students with their tuition and supplies for the fall semester.
 
During a September 11 Consular Corps of Houston luncheon at the West Houston Institute, HCC Chancellor Dr. Cesar Maldonado discussed the scholarship with Lynden B. Rose, the Honorary Consulate of the Commonwealth of the Bahamas.
 
Rose was grateful for HCC’s generosity.
 
“We’re honored that HCC took the leadership of the Chancellor and the administration to take care of those students in need,” Rose said. “I want to say thank you very much for allowing the students to have an opportunity to complete their education without any restrictions or reservations."
