HCC Northeast participates in annual Greater Heights parade and crawfish fest
Mar 4, 2019
Houston Community College Northeast helped kick off the Greater Heights Chamber of Commerce annual Crawfish Festival by participating in a parade through the Heights community. HCC Fire Academy cadets and faculty were well received by the community as they rode on the Public Safety Center of Excellence fire truck and walked along the route distributing giveaways to participants. After the parade, the festival, which attracted participants from greater Heights and surrounding communities, offered a day of entertainment, plenty of mudbugs and an opportunity to visit with area businesses and community organizations.
HCC Northeast representatives provided information about the enrollment process, as well as provided information on workforce and career training opportunities offered at nearby campuses. The festive day also provided an additional opportunity to reach a number of residents over the age of 55 years old and share information about special opportunities such as the HCC senior tuition discount program and the AARP partnership.
Northeast College has been engaged with the Greater Heights community and the area chamber for several years and continues to have a strong presence at the event, which brings together business, schools and community organizations across the city.
