HCC partners with Mental Health America on Stress Relief Workshops

Studying for final exams can be a stressful time in any student’s life, and when adding balancing work and family into the mix, this can be challenging at best. Houston Community College (HCC) Southwest Student Life and Mental Health America of Fort Bend County have teamed up to help identify and manage stress in three different workshops.
The workshops increase awareness of mental illness and preventative care and the importance of screenings.
“The screenings measure a multitude of possible stressors,” said HCC Professor Tamara Harris, Ph.D. “The degree to which someone is struggling, whether it be depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, PTSD, eating disorders, or alcohol abuse is important to identify these issues to improve their health and live a happy, productive life.”
All students, faculty, staff and the community members are invited to attend these free workshops, conducted by license professional counselors:
