The Houston construction boom is clearly visible across the city, as Houston Community College forges ahead with its $425 million Groundbreaker Bond Program.

On Friday, May 29, a unique matchmaking-style event, part of the HCC GameChanger Small Business Program, will help ensure the goal of awarding 35% of the program to certified small business enterprises. A speed-dating formatted event allows potential small business enterprise (SBE) subcontractors to meet face-to-face with each of the prime contractors in rotating meetings.

The HCC Groundbeaker Bond Program includes 14 capital improvement projects across all six colleges, adding state-of the-art instructional buildings, parking garages and significant updates to existing buildings as well as new technologies to meet student needs, especially in high-demand areas such as health sciences, as well as science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education.

The unique Matchmaking-Style SBE event will take place from 8-10:30 a.m., Friday, May 29 at HCC Southeast College Learning HUB Building, Room 108.

Representatives from Jacobs Program Management, Durotech, Inc., Manhattan Construction, Skanska, Teal Construction, Tellepsen, Tribble & Stephens, and Turner Construction will be on hand to meet with small businesses.

HCC asks small businesses to come to the event with all the necessary qualification paperwork. For a complete list of what is needed and to register for the GameChanger SBE event, visit hccs.edu/gamechanger.
