Business students get great chance to learn from successful entrepreneurs
Oct 29, 2015
Houston Community College hosts Small Business Breakfasts monthly at the West Loop Campus. They give local small business owners opportunities to connect with each other and large corporations, public entities or government sectors looking to hire vendors.
The October breakfast, however, was the first of its kind. Dr. Jesus Rodríguez, dean of the Business Center of Excellence, and Milton Thibodeaux of the Greater Houston Business Procurement Forum provided HCC business students the chance to sit in on the small business breakfast and learn from successful business owners.
“This was an amazing opportunity to learn how the bidding and procurement process works,” HCC student Shane Hundley said. “A lot of these businesses started small and have grown. They’re considered small, but they are doing really big projects. Seeing some of that networking was really awesome.”
Hundley and several other business students exchanged contact information with local business owners and learned first-hand what makes successful business owners.
“This was a great opportunity for our business students to network and see for themselves the entrepreneurial spirit of our surrounding business community,” Rodríguez said.
