Community Connections: Free summer camp to STEMulate students' minds

Do you love lab experiments, robotics, solving math problems or visiting science museums? If so, Houston Community College Southwest has the perfect summer camp for you - the Governors Merit Summer Program.
The free four-week, Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM)-themed summer camp is open to all rising 10th and 11th-grade students enrolled in the Houston Independent School District, Fort Bend Independent School District and Stafford Municipal School District.
Classes are limited to 25 students from each grade group. They will learn about robotics, MakerBot-3D printing, biology, microbiology and take field trips to the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Space Center and the Health Science Center. Technocamp speakers will talk about STEM based skills that will give students the confidence to further their studies and focus on a career path.
The camp runs from Monday, July 7 through Friday, August 1 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at HCC Southwest's Stafford campus in the Scarcella building at 10041 Cash Road, Stafford, Texas 77477. Call 713-718-6492 for additional information.
