Jobs or Leadership Positions in Community
I served as an AmeriCorps member with Interfaith Ministries for Greater Houston’s “Serve Houston” program from December 2024 to April 2025, contributing directly to initiatives that supported and uplifted the local community. At the conclusion of our service term, our team was honored with the Mayor’s Volunteer Appreciation Award from the City of Houston, recognizing the tangible difference we made.

I am also a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, an organization that continues to inspire my work as SGA Humanitarian, shaping how I serve, lead, and support my campus community in meaningful ways.

Talents or Hobbies, or Something People Don’t Know About You
My self-care moments are my happy moments: catching up on "Love Island USA," diving into a favorite playlist, or exploring nearby streets and parks, all of which help me recharge, stay centered, and keep my life in balance.

Why did you enroll at HCC Coleman College?
After a long recovery from a medical diagnosis, I took time to reflect on my personal and professional goals. While I initially hesitated about returning to school, I realized that a career in healthcare offered a meaningful and fulfilling path — one that allows me to support others’ well-being while also taking care of my own health. This realization gave me the clarity and motivation to pursue a career that is both purposeful and sustainable.

Why did you choose your program of study?
With my background in technology, Diagnostic Medical Sonography immediately caught my interest because it blends technical problem-solving with hands-on patient care. Being in the program has been an exciting way to explore the body’s anatomy and physiology up close, building on insights from my own healthcare journey.

I’m grateful for the chance to put what I’m learning into practice every day, growing my skills and confidence as an aspiring sonographer while making each experience meaningful.

What do you like best about your college experience?
What I enjoy most about my college experience is the chance to expand on my academic knowledge while leaving a real impact on campus. Being part of organizations like SGA and USC gives me the opportunity to lead, collaborate, and support my fellow students in ways that truly matter.

Balancing hands-on learning with meaningful leadership has made my journey at Coleman both inspiring and deeply rewarding.

What do you like best about your program of study?
What I appreciate most about my program is the hands-on clinical experiences that bring classroom learning to life. Equally rewarding is the strong sense of community within my cohort, where we encourage, challenge, and learn from one another every step of the way.

The instructors leave a lasting impression, sharing their expertise while connecting with us personally, creating a collaborative and inspiring environment that makes every day meaningful.

When you are tired, what motivates you to push forward?
When I feel tired, I remind myself of the progress I’ve made through my journey of recovery and personal growth. The knowledge and skills I gain in the program motivate me, knowing they will help me make a meaningful difference in patients’ lives. I also draw energy and inspiration from my family and friends, whose support and guidance keep me moving forward every day.

What advice can you offer to help other students succeed?
Remember, your college journey is an investment in yourself — every challenge you tackle, every skill you master, and every connection you build adds to your growth. The time and effort you pour in now will pay off, giving you knowledge, confidence, and the power to make a real impact in your future career.

Embrace the journey, and watch how every experience shapes you into the person and professional you’re meant to become.

Any final thoughts?
Your college adventure, full of challenges and opportunities, is molding a champion within you — one that is resilient, unstoppable, and empowered to make a meaningful difference.
