Jun 18, 2020

Houston-area high school students will have a chance to take part in a series of weeklong STEM Information Technology Virtual Summer Camps from July 6 to 10, 9 a.m. to noon.

Sponsored by Houston Community College Digital and Information Technology Center of Excellence, the camps are focused on IT used in six areas: manufacturing, cybersecurity, music, digital art, life science and 3D printing.

“The summer camps will introduce high school students to these diverse areas of computer science study. We hope they will be inspired to pursue careers in the IT field,” said camp director Narges DeBary, who holds a doctorate in computer science.

Since 2016, the center of excellence has held 18 summer camps covering a wide range of areas including robotics, cybersecurity, coding with Swift programming language and PC building, serving about 450 local students.
