HCC Trustee Robert Glaser Becomes Chair-Elect to CCATT Board of Directors

Houston Community College (HCC) Trustee Robert Glaser has been elected Chair-Elect for the Community College Association of Texas Trustees (CCATT) Board of Directors, which was just announced in the fall issue of its quarterly e-newsletter. Trustee Glaser represents HCC’s District V.

Formed in 2007, CCATT provides resources, education, and professional development to the elected trustees and regents of its 50 Texas community college districts, while increasing recognition of the value and positive impact of community colleges to the economic development and growth in the state. The membership of CCATT is comprised of over 400 trustees and regents, overseeing institutions that deliver education and training to more than 750,000 students.

A native Houstonian, Trustee Glaser still lives just blocks away from his childhood home, and the manufacturing business he started 30 years ago is just steps away from an HCC campus.

As an employer of skilled labor in his business, Trustee Glaser recognizes the importance of access to a traditional college education, as well as to workforce programs. That is why he frequently says his vision for HCC is to see it develop more programs and pathways of training and education to meet the needs of the diverse segments of our community.

“Education and workforce training are the biggest tools in the box when it comes to supplying the skilled workforce necessary to support our economy,” says Trustee Glaser.

Trustee Glaser attended and graduated from the HISD system. He then earned two bachelor’s degrees from the University of Texas at Austin and later received his MBA from the University of St. Thomas here in Houston.
