Southwest Express Saturday business courses launch at HCC West Loop Campus
Jul 22, 2019
Students and working adults who are too busy to attend classes during the week can now get aboard “Southwest Express,” a Saturday-only class schedule at Houston Community College, to accelerate their Level 1 certificate or associate degree in business management or human resources.
Classes are slated to begin in August at HCC West Loop Campus, 5601 West Loop S. in Houston. Classes are open to all, and no prerequisites are required.
The fast-paced program is designed for full- and part-time students, busy adults and working professionals. Students can work toward a certificate to quickly secure a job. Those looking to further their academic journey may transfer their credits to a four-year college or university to work toward bachelor’s degrees.
“Southwest Express gives the students the opportunity to pursue a degree or certificate with the flexibility and convenience of a weekend schedule,” said Christopher Caldwell, HCC professor of business technology. “The classes are the equivalent of a full-time program but refashioned to fit the needs of today’s busy working adults.”
Southwest Express offers both online and face-to-face classes. Students receive the same number of credits in eight weeks instead of 16 weeks, the traditional course schedule. They have access to a full range of academic and support services as well as the library and computer labs.
While fees are affordable, scholarships and financial aid are available to eligible students.
Prospective students must attend one of the information sessions from 10 – 11 a.m. on Aug. 3, 10, 17 and 24. For more information, please visit hccs.edu/saturdayexpress
