Dear Neighbors,
As your Houston Community College representative, I feel proud to march forward on the path to make advanced education affordable and accessible for our entire community. From academic programs that prepare students to transfer to four-year universities to workforce training and adult education, HCC is where students can come to build their future.
In the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey, HCC is taking extra efforts to help students remain focused on their academic goals. With assistance from the HCC Foundation, HCC established Swoop to the Rescue to assist students and employeesfacing financial hardship caused by this natural disaster.
Since the semester began, HCC has awarded:
- $380,000 in emergency scholarships to more than 490 HCC students.
- $25,000 to replace books and supplies destroyed by Hurricane Harvey.
- $124,750 in emergency grants for 280 faculty and staff.
Since opening 46 years ago, HCC has prepared over four million students to attend four-year universities or transfer to the workforce. Job placements for our graduating students have been incredible. Our adult education program is beneficial for those who are interested in upgrading skills, pursuing a new career or feeding their curiosity.
Registration is open now and I invite you to experience college life and build your careers with more than 300 degree and certification programs at HCC.
In service,
Neeta Sane
