New custom-designed arcade game unveiled at HCC West Loop Campus
Dec 17, 2018
Providing some stress relief during finals, the Center for Digital and Information Technology at the West Loop campus has unveiled its latest innovation – a custom-made arcade console loaded with tons of games.
The console is powered by a Windows PC running Maximus Arcade, a third-party software used to load games. A multiple arcade machine simulator known as MAME runs in the background.
"Digital gaming students will use the arcade to showcase games they design, and the display console can also stream videos highlighting our programs," said Sean Otmishi, dean of HCC's Digital and Information Technology Center of Excellence. “It’s a great stress reliever, especially during final exams."
The arcade console is located near the first-floor DIT Center of Excellence office at the West Loop Campus and is available for students to play from 4 – 7 p.m. on Wednesdays (excluding holidays), and anytime it has been turned on by faculty and staff.
