Feb 13, 2018
Houston Woman Magazine has selected Houston Community College’s Melissa Gonzalez and Liz Carreño as two of the city’s 50 most influential women of 2017.
Gonzalez is the interim president of HCC’s Southeast College and Carreño is the outreach director for the HCC Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses Program.
“Those selected are individuals with vast networks of social and professional connections,” said Beverly Denver, publisher of the magazine. “They have earned an enviable reputation for their expertise in a particular field or arena. They are knowledgeable, credible and worthy of trust and admiration.”
Gonzalez said, “I am honored to be on the list with so many other accomplished women in Houston. I want to thank Houston Woman Magazine for recognizing our contributions to the community.”
According to Carreño, “The opportunities provided to women by HCC are awesome. I am thrilled to be part of the Goldman Sachs program that offers women and men the chance to reach their potential.”
The 50 women were honored during an event February 11 at the Junior League of Houston. The magazine has published its annual keepsake edition recognizing the 2017 honorees and it is being mailed to subscribers.
