HCC faculty and staff enjoy FORWARD Fun Day
May 11, 2017
Hundreds of members of the Houston Community College (HCC) family took a break from emails and meetings to participate in “FORWARD Fun Day.” The special initiative held at seven HCC locations May 9 focused on fostering fellowship and camaraderie among HCC faculty and staff.
“We work hard all year long,” said HCC Chancellor Cesar Maldonado. “Transformation is time consuming and it takes a lot of dedication. We keep changing our culture to be centered on the students, and we could not accomplish all we do if it was not for the HCC faculty and staff.”
Coordinating several elements for the festivity at HCC District was an exciting time for Senior Administrative Assistant at HCC District Communications Teri Harness. She made sure the execution of the event went flawlessly.
“It is always fun to put everything together in the hopes that everyone has a good time,” Harness said. “I think everyone had a wonderful time, and I think that those who were unable to be here felt that they missed out on something good.”
The initiative offered carnival games, food and music. FORWARD, is the acronym for:
F – Focus on Students
O – Optimism and Passion
R – Reliability
W – Workforce Preparedness
A – Academic Excellence
R – Responsiveness
D – Dedication to Innovation
FORWARD Fun Day was hosted by the Office of Chancellor Maldonado who, along with several members of the HCC Board of Trustees, visited with the HCC faculty and staff spreading a message of encouragement and dedication.
