Houston Community College (HCC) has been awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) for the third consecutive year.
The GFOA is honoring HCC for its comprehensive 2016 annual financial report. The GFOA says, “The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting.
We hope that your example will encourage others in their efforts to achieve and maintain an appropriate standard of excellence in financial reporting.”
HCC Chancellor Cesar Maldonado says, “This award is yet another acknowledgement from a national organization that HCC is a leader in finance and administration and an outstanding steward of taxpayer dollars.” Earlier this month the National Procurement Institute named HCC a recipient of the Achievement of Excellence Award for the second consecutive year.
The GFOA is a nonprofit professional association serving approximately 19,000 government finance professionals. In awarding HCC the Certificate of Excellence, the association praises HCC for demonstrating a constructive spirit of full disclosure to clearly communicate is financial story.
The Certificate of Excellence specifically recognizes the HCC finance and accounting team led by Teri Zamora, Sr. Vice Chancellor, Finance & Administration. “We take seriously our responsibility to ensure accuracy and transparency in our accounting procedures,” says Zamora. “I am proud of my HCC team for setting such a high standard.”
