HCC art students use 3D printers to see their drawings come alive

Houston Community College (HCC) Digital Art classes are incorporating 3D imagery to change the mindset of students. Digital art has evolved beyond its usage in magazine layouts and the use of Photoshop to eliminate imperfections to making images a 3D reality.

Students at HCC create images using various web-based applications integrated on any of 10 Mojo machines to take their drawings to a whole new level. The internal pins are the workhorse of these machines, creating small yet precise 3D images on five-inch build plates.

These Mojo machines are located in the Fab Lab at HCC Advance Manufacturing Center of Excellence, a 57-thousand square foot facility located on the Stafford Campus.
