The day's report features a look at the recent HCC Black History Scholarship Gala. NASA Administrator Major General Charles F. Bolden, Jr., who served as the keynote speaker for the 10th anniversary event, provided a sterling speech about NASA and the future of the agency – while praising the educational and workforce training efforts of Houston Community College.

Members of the HCC Black History Committee sponsor the scholarship gala annually to raise funds for students attending Houston Community College. Last year, 10 students each received $1,000 scholarships to cover their college expenses through the committee scholarship program with the HCC Foundation.
