Manhattan Construction Company establishes scholarship with HCC Foundation
Jun 20, 2016
Students in the Houston Community College (HCC) Construction Center of Excellence are getting financial support to build successful careers in commercial and residential construction.
During the June 2016 meeting of the HCC Board of Trustees, Manhattan Construction Company presented the HCC Foundation with a check for $20,000 to establish the Manhattan Construction Scholarship.
“This scholarship for us is very exciting, because it is going to impact peoples’ lives moving forward,” said Bob Postma, Manhattan Construction Vice President- Houston office.
The gift will award $1,000 each to 20 students in the HCC Workforce Construction programs, including Construction Technology, Heating, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration (HVAC), and Industrial Electricity. The money will be used for tuition, fees, and books.
“These programs represent an important sector of Houston’s workforce and offer valuable training for high demand, high impact careers,” said Christina Morales, HCC Foundation Board of Directors. “We are excited to establish this new scholarship with Manhattan Construction and look forward to building on this important partnership and showcasing the students who benefit from their generosity.”
This is the first gift from Manhattan Construction, which is currently constructing the new Central South Workforce Facility at the HCC Central South campus under the HCC Bond Program.
