HCC Small Business Development Program hosts procurement seminar
Aug 22, 2016
Small business owners who want to take their companies to the next level can get help from Houston Community College (HCC). The HCC Procurement Small Business Development Program (SBDP), Houston Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA) Business Center, and Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses have successfully helped entrepreneurs grow their revenue and create jobs across the Greater Houston Area.
The HCC Procurement Small Business Development Program recently hosted Strategies for Success, an event for dozens of small business owners at the HCC Pinemont Campus. This was the first of nine seminars that will be held across Houston to provide business owners information about becoming vendors with HCC and about how they can build access to capital and contracts through business consulting services.
“I think it is a great idea for procurement to partner with our leadership programs so our small businesses can be involved in HCC. It’s important for them to not only to grow their ability to interact with us at the local level, but to also be able to grow their businesses with the skills and experience that they’ve learned,” said Zeph Capo, HCC Board of Trustees, District 1.
HCC strives to have an annual goal of 35 percent small business participation, which enables the college to maximize opportunities to have certified small businesses compete and earn HCC’s business.
