HCC hosts Project GRAD College and Career Institute
Jul 25, 2016
Houston Community College (HCC) Northeast recently hosted the Project GRAD College and Career Institute. During the summer program, approximately 40 high school students had the opportunity to visit various campuses, learn about career training offered at the college, and receive information about the enrollment process and financial aid. Instructors in the HCC Global Energy Center of Excellence (COE) served as instructors for the career information sessions.
Students learned about careers in Drafting, Petroleum Engineering Technology, Process Engineering Technology, and Electronics, which are housed in the HCC Global Energy COE. They also got a tour of the state-of-the-art labs and classroom space at the college.
At the closing ceremony, students presented the projects they worked on during the program and received recognition in front of family and friends.
HCC Northeast is a longtime partner with Project Grad, which has created a pathway for high schools students to attend HCC.
The Global Energy Center of Excellence trains and educates technically-skilled and safety conscious workers for energy and related industries in Houston and surrounding regions. For more information on programs and course offerings, call 713.718.8300 or visit hccs.edu/energy.
