HCC hosts orientation for international students
Jun 7, 2016
The Houston Community College Office of International Student Services & Study Abroad (OISS&SA) recently welcomed more than 300 new and transfer international students on F-1 visas for the summer semester.
The students, along with family members and friends, made up an audience of more than 600 during an orientation at the J.W. Marriott Hotel. Attendees saw a variety of presentations about HCC, learned about the numerous resources available, and met with student organizations and international student advisors from OISS&SA.
Houston Community College has the largest international student population among all U.S. community colleges.
"The international student orientation truly shows the great diversity that exists in the world," OISS&SA Manager Bianca Schonberg said. "Furthermore, it provides an opportunity for our new students to engage with fellow students and staff from all over the world, creating a more diverse and interesting community for HCC campuses. We look forward to working with the new students in their transition to the U.S. and HCC campus life."
OISS&SA will host its next orientation for F-1 international students for the Fall 2016 semester on August 5 at the Bayou City Event Center (9401 Knight Rd.).
