HCC Fashion Design students showcase winning garments
Jul 13, 2016
The winners of the recent Fashion Fusion competition at the Museum of Fine Arts Houston (MFAH) are taking the competition on the road.
Garments and jewelry designed by eight students in the Houston Community College (HCC) Fashion and Costume Design Program are now on display at the Two Allen Center Lobby in a new exhibition presented by Arts Brookfield called The Refinement of Line in Fashion and Machine.
The Two Allen Center Lobby is a place where on a daily basis, the gowns will be seen by more than 6,000 professionals and visitors at what is considered one of the epicenters of business in the heart of Downtown Houston.
The Sculpted in Steel: Art Deco Automobiles and Motorcycles, 1929-1940, a featured exhibition at the MFAH, was the inspiration behind the design and creation of the gowns, cocktail dresses, pantsuits, and jewelry.
Participating HCC student designers include: Criseyda Arriaza, Kitty DuPas, Bridget Fizer, Alan Gonzalez, Maria Hammond, Luisa Nadarajah, Silvia Otaola, and Teresa Rangel.
“This type of exposure is just amazing for these students,” said Suzette Brimmer, chair, Consumer Arts & Sciences Center of Excellence. “We are extremely proud of the partnership that we have created with Arts Brookfield and Museum of Fine Arts Houston for giving our students the opportunity to display their talents. We are equally excited to show Houston what the HCC Fashion and Costume Design Program is all about.”
Don’t miss it. You can see the gorgeous creations up close now until September 29.
