HCC chancellor appointed to Quality Texas Foundation Board

Houston Community College Chancellor Cesar Maldonado, Ph.D., P.E has been appointed to the Board of Directors of the Quality Texas Foundation, an organization created by late Texas Governor Ann Richards, with the goal of improving the quality of entities in diverse industries.

“The Quality Texas Foundation is extremely proud to add Dr. Maldonado to our statewide Board of Directors. His significant accomplishments and experience will enhance our charter responsibilities of encouraging and recognizing excellence throughout the state,” said Mac McGuire, Ph.D., CEO, Quality Texas Education.

As a board member who will serve a three-year term, Chancellor Maldonado will represent the Houston, Galveston, Beaumont, and Port Arthur areas. In his capacity as an advisor, Maldonado is expected to help to reach out to additional organizations interested in achieving the highest level of excellence.

“It is an honor to be appointed to this position. This board plays a critical role in the quality oversight across all industries and it is recognized at a national level,” said Dr. Maldonado. “Whether you are an educational institution or a manufacturing plant, the level of commitment to the organization comes out through its quality and it its consistency. I hope to bring ideas for the benefit of Houston students and Houston Community College.”

Since its creation in 1992, Quality Texas Foundation has awarded recognitions of excellence to more than 200 entities including universities, hospitals, and manufacturing businesses. Prior to receiving the award, each organization goes through a rigorous criteria consisting of site visits by representatives of the foundation and a comprehensive report. Quality Texas Foundation also provides training modules for institutions interested in pursuing improvement and higher performance.
