From classroom to catwalk: HCC Fashion Design student featured on KXLN-Univision, KHOU 11

It is not every day that Alan Gonzalez wakes for work before dawn. Yet, on the morning of Friday, June 10, the Houston Community College Fashion Design student was at the studios of KXLN-Univision before 5 a.m.

Gonzalez was interviewed about his up and coming Fall-Winter Fashion show, which will be presented at the Houston Museum of Natural Science on Saturday, June 25 and Sunday, June 26. His designs range from Ready to Wear, Avant Garde and Haute Couture.

Gonzalez, was a winner of Fashion Fusion, a fashion competition in the category of Most Sculptural for his white linen-based fabric gown. Fashion Fusion is a collaboration between HCC the Museum of Fine Arts Houston. Participating students drew inspiration from the museum’s exhibit “Sculpted in Steel: Art Deco Automobiles and Motorcycles, 1929-1940.

Gonzalez, who was born in Monterrey, Mexico and raised in Houston, Texas emphasized, “It is important for me to be true to my culture, my roots and my heritage. I try to bring that alive with each one of my creations. That’s what I like most about my work.”
