Nicholas Connors, a 13-year-old who sang the national anthem before a Houston Rockets playoff game last week and had a surprise on-court meeting with Houston Texans star J.J. Watt, will sing the anthem again before Saturday’s Teen Entrepreneur Summit at Houston Community College’s Central midtown campus.

 

The HCC Office of Entrepreneurial Initiatives, which is hosting the event, will present the Pasadena seventh grader with a Watt No. 99 Texans’ jersey.

 

The summit, which runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Central College auditorium, will serve as the kick-off event for HCC as it launches the Teen Entrepreneur College in the Fall 2015 semester.

 

High school students, their parents, advisors, mentors and community organizations interested in entrepreneurship are invited to attend the free event. The summit will focus on learning to be entrepreneurial, thinking independently, acting proactively, and being willing to make a difference.

 

Attendees will hear from two well-known, successful entrepreneurs: Marcus Davis, radio host and owner of The Breakfast Klub restaurant, and Luis Vicente Garcia, best-selling author and international speaker. Sean Gilmore, a 13-year-old who invented the "Sleepover Bed Tent," will also be in attendance to share his incredible story.

 

During the event, future entrepreneurs also will have the opportunity to meet with various organizations to help them along with their dreams.

 

Kidz View talk show host Victoria Baynes Lopez, who is 12 years old, will serve as the event’s emcee.
