HCC to launch Teen Entrepreneur College with Teen Summit
Apr 23, 2015
As the saying goes, “you are never too young to dream big.” High school students, their parents, advisors, mentors and community organizations interested in entrepreneurship are invited to attend a summit at Houston Community College (HCC) on Saturday, May 2 to learn from the experts.
This will be the kick-off event for HCC as it launches the Teen Entrepreneur College in the Fall 2015 semester. The HCC Office of Entrepreneurial Initiatives is extending this invitation to high school students who are creative, innovative, and committed to developing their own enterprise. The summit will focus on learning to be entrepreneurial, thinking independently, acting proactively, and being willing to make a difference.
“Research tells us that after participation in entrepreneurship courses students increase their occupational aspirations, interest in college, reading, and leadership behavior,” said Jennifer K. Holmes, HCC director of Entrepreneurial Initiatives-Community Relations.
Future business owners will have that opportunity to explore their entrepreneurial dreams during HCC’s upcoming teen summit. It is a one-day experience bringing together high school students and their parents from communities all over the greater Houston Metropolitan area to learn about a viable career option as an entrepreneur.
The theme of the free event is Entrepreneurship: A State of Mind. It will be held on Saturday, May 2 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the HCC Central College auditorium, 1300 Holman.
Attendees will hear from two well-known, successful entrepreneurs: Marcus Davis, radio host and owner of The Breakfast Klub restaurant, and Luis Vicente Garcia, best selling author and international speaker. During the event, future entrepreneurs also will have the opportunity to meet with various organizations to help them along with their dreams.
