HCC talent show winners to perform at VIP Global Luncheon

Nov 17, 2015

With speed and precision Jonathan Martinez and Carlos Guevara made the nylon strings on their flamenco guitars sing. Rhythmic, vibrant and technically sound – this Houston Community College student duo mixed the elegance of Spanish guitar melodies with the fast paced bravado of metal shredding on the fret board.

The audience and judges at the second annual World’s Got Talent International Talent Show at the HCC West Loop Campus Auditorium showed their appreciation for the medley of genres and skill. In a highly talented field with stiff competition, Guevara and Martinez placed third behind Peruvian singer Nick Anaya and American vocalist Raivyn Hearne, who performed in army fatigues. This group, along with Indonesian singer Ayub Imanulla, who placed fourth, will perform at the VIP Global Luncheon hosted by the HCC Office of International Student Services and Study Abroad at 11:30 a.m.  on Wednesday, Nov. 18 at the West Loop Campus Auditorium.

“HCC students hailing from around the world came together to share their heritage through song, dance and performance art,” HCC International Student Advisor and World’s Got Talent emcee Angela Ebrahimi said. “The show was a great success with acts ranging from Egyptian belly dancing to Latin rhythm guitarists and many vocalists singing in their native tongue.”

The elite group of performers who won the competition will showcase their talents for consulate representatives from various nations and other highly regarded members of the international community.
