HCC HR Chief Officer to serve as Chair of HR Higher Ed Board

Houston Community College is pleased to announce that Janet May, chief human resources officer, has been appointed Chair of the Western Region board of directors for the College and University Professional Association for Human Resources (CUPA-HR).

May has been chair-elect since last summer and will move into the role of chair on July 1.

“I am honored to serve as Chair of the CUPA-HR Western Region Board, said May. “CUPA-HR has been at the forefront of providing higher education human resources professionals with the support and educational opportunities we need to assist our institutions in being successful.”

May has served in several leadership roles within CUPA-HR over the last 16 years, including a term as president of the Rio Grande Chapter and as secretary and chair-elect of the Western Region. At the national level, she has served on the membership committee and emerging issues committee and currently serves on the diversity, equity and inclusion committee.

CUPA-HR serves more than 18,000 HR professionals and other campus leaders at member organizations around the country.

May has served as Chief Human Resources Officer at HCC since 2013.
