HCC art students showcase work at Eastside Campus

Normal is Boring, an art showcase at the Houston Community College Eastside Learning Hub Gallery, consists of works by 80 students enrolled in studio art classes. The exhibition displays a variety of media expressing the students’ energy, sensitivity, humor, and intelligence.
Faith Schwartz won first place for her piece Game Over and said, “I believe that as students we all tried our best at using our artistic talents and it was reflected in the show. I feel humbled, honored, and excited that my piece was the winner. This piece was my attempt at being fearless.”
Second place went to Paulo Caballero and Vinh Nguyen took third place. Honorable mention went to Iridian Casiale, Apolinar Jr. Arroyo, Brenda Sanchez, Chloe Zavala, and Brenda Lopez.
Winners were selected by the Exhibitions and Programs Director at Lawndale Art Center, Dennis Nance.The top three prizes will be displayed at the West Loop Campus Art Gallery with other award winners from around the district. Work from the show will become part of a permanent collection at HCC.
