HCC Southwest's Dir. of Facilities leads massive trail ride to start off HLSR

For the past 21-years, the Southwest Trail Riders Association (SWTRA), the largest African-American trail riding club, has made the 120-mile trek from Richmond/Rosenberg in Fort Bend County to Memorial Park. It is led by Alex Prince, the Trail Boss as well as the Director of Facilities and Personnel at HCC Southwest.

"The club was formed in 1993 and was sanctioned by the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo in 1997," says Prince. "I am responsible for 250 riders and 14 wagons."

SWTRA, along with 12 other riding clubs from other counties, often brave the rain and cold weather to make their trek to Memorial Park and onto their final destination to take part in the Downtown Rodeo Parade. The parade will kick off the annual Livestock Show and Rodeo. This three-week event is a time for Prince to recreate and relive the Old West.
