HCC Southwest adds new Dean Of Workforce

HCC Southwest welcomes its newest staff member, Dr. Anthony Hancock, Associate Dean of the Workforce and Economic Development. Dr. Hancock has been in higher education for the past 15 years, starting with Palo Alto College in San Antonio, as a Job Development Specialist, and the Alamo Colleges, as Coordinator and Director of Tech Prep. He has also served at Special Project Manager for St. Philip's College, managing Logistical Operations, as well as Academic and Workforce programs.
After a sabbatical in 2008, he returned to St. Philip's College as a Program Specialist, working in Continuing Education and Workforce Development.
With several degrees under his belt, Dr. Hancock said education is a life-long process. He has earned an Associate's Degree in Public Administration from San Antonio College, a Bachelor's in Public Administration from Our Lady of the Lake University, a dual Master of Arts in Public Administration and Computer Resource and Information Management from Webster University, and most recently, he received a Ph.D. in Educational Administration from the University of Texas at Austin.
Dr. Hancock's recognition includes a Kappa Delta Pi, International Honor, The University of Texas Sid W. Richardson Regents Scholar, Jesse E. Jones Scholar from the Houston Endowment and The Washington Center's Minority Leader Fellow. Serving the community in various capacities, he was chair and co-chair of the South San Antonio Chamber of Commerce Leadership Institute and a facilitator of the U.S. Department of Education's technical program, the Alamo College Chancellor's Transformational Leadership Team, the District Performance Review and Strategic Priority committee and the Alamo College Leadership Development Strategic Priority Committee.
He is also a Healthy Families Network of Greater San Antonio and Bexar County committee member, a panelist on the United Way Healthy Partner of Community Change Eastside Promise Neighborhood, a Texas Academic Decathlon, Proctor and Interview Judge, an advisor to St. Philip's College Men of Honor program and African-American Male Initiative.
A regular presenter at state and regional conferences, Dr. Hancock's topics have included supporting Student Success through K-16 Collaboration, Recognized Articulation Agreements, Connecting Secondary and Post Secondary Institutions, Improving Transition for Student Success, The Power of Men and College, Careers and Your Earning Potential.
Dr. Hancock has two sons and one daughter, Damian, Kisha and Marcus, and four grandchildren.
