HCC MBDA Business Center announces grand opening
Mar 5, 2014
The U.S. Department of Commerce’s Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA) is pleased to announce the official launch of the Houston MBDA Business Center during a grand opening ceremony Wednesday, March 5, 2014.
Last fall Houston Community College received a grant from the US Department of Commerce to establish an MBDA office in Houston. MBDA Business Centers are designed to support and assist minority owned businesses to grow in size and scale, to penetrate new markets, both domestic and global. They also help businesses access advising services and information regarding securing capital, competing for contracts, identifying growth opportunities and becoming export ready. The center is staffed by business advisors who have practical business expertise and experience needed to run successful and profitable businesses.
HCC is committed to serving the business community of the Greater Houston Area and partnering with the community to promote economic development and prosperity. HCC is now the only community college in the country to offer both the MBDA and the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses Initiative. HCC began its Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses program in 2011. This growth in support for businesses fuels Houston’s economy and generates job opportunities.
The grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony was held at noon, March 5 at the MBDA office, 2302 Fannin, Suite 165. A reception followed that evening at 5:30 p.m. in the HCC Administration building, 3100 Main, in the 2nd floor auditorium.
