Dianne Johnson appointed HCC trustee for District V

The Houston Community College Board of Trustees appointed Dianne Johnson to temporarily fill the position as trustee for District V with a 5-0 vote on Thursday, October 17. Johnson will fill the position left vacant by Trustee Leila Feldman upon her resignation in September. Johnson was sworn in October 24 and will serve until the newly-elected District V Trustee from the November election is sworn-in.
Johnson served on the HISD Board of Education from 2001 to 2010, and was president of the HISD board before she retired in 2010. She also served on the board of directors for The Council of Great City Schools. A native Texan and a product of the public school system, Johnson holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Texas in Austin and a Master’s Degree from the University of Houston. She worked with the UT Ex-Students' Association before launching her teaching career in the Spring Branch Independent School District where she was a winner of national awards.
Currently, Johnson is a member of the policy advisory boards of the Texas Institute for Education Reform; REEP, Rice Education Entrepreneurship Program; the Legislative K-12 Committee for the Greater Houston Partnership; the Partner’s Council for the Collaborative for Children; and the recently organized Texans for Education Reform. Johnson works as an educational consultant with Houston A+ Challenge and Sterling and Associates.
